I just turned to be a finisher of 42.195km over the weekends.
My virgin Marathon.
Yes! I am proud to be one of the many whom received the finisher tee at the end of the race just on Sunday, 7 Dec 2008. Those that haven't completed their marathon may think it's near impossible to do it, they think we, the finishers, are a bunch of crazy people, not literally.
Quoting my friend, Toh Wee, "Even to take the first step to participate is a great feat already."
I truly agree. Three of us, Toh Wee, Yoshika and I completed our first marathon. Though we all started off together at the starting line but we finished it separately.
Running a marathon is like living our own life. Before the start, we gather our friends to join the great feat, to conquer the-what's-thought as the near impossible together. To ensure companionship in the race. Different people coming together trying to achieve the same goal together. In the race or life, we look at ourselves starting out together shoulder-to-shoulder. We enjoyed each others company. We felt great to be together trying to achieve the near impossible.
Unfortunately, every good thing has to come to an end, friends separate. Taking our own pace. Racing off the rest of the goals within our own limits, leaving friends behind. But it's not wrong to leave friends behind. Because we all have different pace in our race, race in the marathon or race in our lives.
I may be going to Polytechnic but you may be going Junior College, different pacing.
However, at the end of the great feat, we all meet up together. Proud of our achievement. Congratulate ourselves. Celebrate the joy.
Separately? Never mind, we're back again.
This is the same as our life cycle. People come and go.
Treasure the moments
